West High Halloween fundraiser haunted with success
----------------------------------------------------------
West High’s athletic booster club has already written an $80,000 check with the athletic department’s name on it, but scarily, that wasn’t enough. On Oct. 22, an extra $12,000 was raised in the second ever Club West Halloween fundraiser. Plenty of family fun was had at the haunted hayride, costume contest, raffle and more. The prosperity of Club West’s frightfully fun fundraiser is certain to return in the future.

About

aboutME

Hello! My name is Alaina Greenlee, and I'm a senior at Iowa City West High School. This is my third year on the West Side Story staff, and second year as the broadcast Video Editor. My favorite part of staff is that with every project I work on, my passion and appreciation for videography deepens. The journey of learning how to share people's stories in ways words never could, and aiding younger staffers in their own videography experience is something I never thought I would be able to do when I first joined. Today, I am so grateful that I have that opportunity, and can now build skills for the real world. I am very appreciative for my time on staff, and for learning to always follow and tell the important stories, despite how difficult they are to pursue. From profiles to sports highlights, I'm very excited to continue to expand my abilities this year on WSS, and to carry those over into my career.

Outside of journalism, I play volleyball, participate in show choir and am a head of the theatre sound crew. I hope to continue to work hard and enjoy my senior year, and am looking forward to attending the University of Iowa to pursue sports broadcasting/communications.
